Surge win two of three on the mainland

A week after losing two games on home ice, the Island Surge trekked to Langley where they won two of three games in Week Two.
The Surge handed the Fraser Valley Jets their first loss of the season, edging the Jets 2-1 at the Langley Sportsplex Friday night. Sara Charbonneau and  Nicole Constable scored for the Island, while Sydney Akai-Platt made 30 saves in the Surge net.
Jenna Proulx scored the Fraser Valley goal.
Back at the Sportsplex Saturday evening, the Surge fell 7-3 to the Meadow Ridge Moose. Kirsten Langston paced the winners with two goals and an assist.
Also scoring for Meadow Ridge were Emma Hall, Kacey Lepp, Payge Pena, Brie Bellerive and Sydney Langston.
Charbonneau, Kristen Gawley and Eastlynn Bellamy tallied for the Surge.
Sunday afternoon at Langley Twin Rinks, the Island got two goals in a three-point game from Gawley in a 6-0 victory over the Surrey Wildcats. Constable, Meaghan Dillon, Emily Ripley and Eilidh Macdonald also scored for the winners.
Akai-Platt made 19 saves for the shutout.
The Jets were winless on the weekend, also falling to the North Shore Rebels 3-2 Sunday in the second game of a double-header at Twin Rinks.
Proulx, with her fourth goal in as many games, and Brianna Barnes-Lindner scored in the second period fr Fraser Valley, giving the Jets a 2-1 lead going into the final 20 minutes.
Kristin Geyer and Jess Sibley scored in the final frame for North Delta. Nicole Charlton also scored for North Shore with the only goal of the first period.
In Kamloops, the South Fraser TNT split two games with the Vibe on the road, winning the first game 3-1 Saturday night at McArthur Island Sports Complex.
Jackie Sollis, Megan Jokai and Shea Weighill tallied for the TNt, with Ashley McCabe netting the Kamloops goal.
In the rematch Sunday, also at McArthur Island, Cheyane Watkinson scored twice and Sadie Colter and Jenna Fletcher added singles in a 4-0 Vibe win.
Jaime Desdore had a 23-save shutout for the Vibe, while Jackie Sollis had the lone goal for the TNT.
