The South Coast Women’s Hockey League needs volunteers

SCWHL

The South Coast Women’s Hockey League needs volunteers for the 2024-25 season. This will be a year of transition for the league, as some volunteers are moving on or are unable to give as much time as in past years.
The SCWHL is currently looking for people to fill the roles of Webmaster, Statistician, and Social Media Co-ordinator. Those interested in volunteering in one of these positions can contact Rick Kupchuk at rkupchuk61@gmail.com
Job descriptions are as follows:
 
Webmaster
  • A SCWHL webmaster will be tasked with getting the most out of our website. Using every tool possible to improve our site so that:
    • Sponsors get a lot of attention.
    • Stats, stories and player profiles are posted.
    • Photos and video are used.
    • Interest (web searches) increase
Statistician
  • Enter game results on the website immediately after a game is completed. Working with the registrar, ensure rosters are updated online so that they are current.  
  • Liaise with scorekeepers of each team to ensure scoresheets are completed accurately with all the necessary information (ie – period lengths, officials names, shots on goal etc.)
  • Correct statistics as necessary.
  
Social Media Co-ordinator
  • This position shall be responsible for maintaining the SCWHL Twitter account, as well as create and use Instagram and Facebook pages in a timely manner. Use of other volunteers would be encouraged so that there is a team handling social media accounts. The co-ordinator shall recruit and lead this team, which would strive to accomplish the following:
 
  • Posting scores on accounts as soon as possible.
  • Use team, league and sponsor logos, as well as photos, as much as possible.
  • Promote upcoming events (next week’s games, All-Star Game, provincials .
  • “Re-Tweeting” news from other female hockey leagues/teams (UBC/TWU university teams, BC Elite League, PWHL etc.) is encouraged.
